One Does What One Can

One Does What One Can

A great war horse came upon a sparrow lying in the street on its back,
with its legs sticking straight up in the air.

The horse bent down, curiously asked,
“What on earth are you doing?

The sparrow replied, “I’m trying to hold back the darkness.”

The horse roared with laughter saying,
“Good luck with that. What do you weigh, about an ounce?”

The sparrow replied gently, “One does what one can.”
